I once bought a domain at auction for $1k then sold it for $10k!

Literally, 0 effort as the buyer actually found me and offered $10k right away.

Which platform did you use for the flipping?

Domaining still works, i don't know about flipping but I am a long term investor. Its working pretty good for me.
It depends on what and how you buy the name and how u sell.

There are so many variables to assessing a domain name's proper value... Especially now. Someone said that people are wiser than they were 10 years ago, pagerank doesn't matter and won't sell a domain nowadays. With so many extensions and variations, your offer needs to reflect the actual value of what you're selling.

In this day and age, can you still register new domains and sell them a few weeks or months down the line or do you have to buying exisiting ones and look to flip them for a profit?
