For those of you generally interested in valuing websites, here's a useful article: http://feinternational.com/blog/how-much-is-my-website-worth/

This thread itself is for all "valuation requests". Please don't open a new thread about your site, just post in here.

Quite a lot of people have been requesting it, and it's one of the most common new threads in the sub-forum, so it made sense to start a sticky.

I have personally sold over $10m in websites on behalf of clients over the last few years, and continue to sell more each month. There are not too many people who have ever sold more.

There are a few others around the forum with the sufficient level of experience to help me out. I'll try to check this thread at least a few times a week to give people a "fair" estimation. Please note - due to my very limited time, I can only give a ballpark figure.

Some general guidelines:

- If your site has revenue below $50 per month, it's not worth much.

- Please post your average revenue for the last year, the age of the site, the main traffic sources, the main monetization method and a brief overview of the site. You don't have to disclose the domain - and in fact, I would recommend keeping it private.

- Please don't offer "valuations" if you don't know what you are doing. Whilst I appreciate people trying to help, it's best for everyone if everything is accurate and from a relative expert.

Thanks for keeping the site-flipping section high quality :)

Cheers guys (and girls!)

I'm looking at buying a forum man, but I can't judge the value of it... I made a thread here -

http://www.blackhatworld.com/blackhat-seo/site-flipping/367014-looking-value-forum-wondering-how-much-hosting-would-cost.html

Could you give me any insight meathead? Hope I gave enough info...

my friend owns a mistype of the domain name of the most famous SE on the web. without being specific, it has a colorful logo and the name he owns is only missing the first letter at the beginning. yes it is a com. It gets a lot of hits of course, and he rents it out for a certain amount of money each month. I am wondering what a BHer would value it at(you have everything u need to figure out the name).

I personally dont think hes getting anything even remotely close to its potential, so could someone please estimate what it would be worth to sell, how much to rent it out for, or how much he should be making with ads/offers. I dont know the exact number of hits but lets say it was 15k uniques per day as i think its in that ballpark.

All input will be appreciated [meathead edit - no selling via PM, please]

I'm not really big into domains. Would really depend how much revenue it generates each month.

About 2 years old. Approx $10k/month. Organic traffic. 1500 uniques/day. Affiliate sales.
What could I flip this for?

Thanks

Something around the low $1XX,XXX mark - depending on a few factors. Would be worth more if you had multiple traffic and revenue streams on there.

Meathead Ive been meaning to message you but as you have started this thread I will give you an outline here. A few years back I was browsing dropped domains and i come across a dot com for a mortgage finance and real estate investment company.

I checked the other tld,s and the dot net was the business. I dont know if they somehow dropped the .com by mistake, or they never managed to get it.
They got in touch with me a few years ago and offered $180 if i remember rightly, which I refused. This company deals in millions im sure, a US company.

Would love your thoughts on this domain, at the minute its parked doing nothing. Maybe you could broker a big deal for me, but the guy does seem tight, and got a bit funny actually stating that it was his domain name.

Obviously I cant give details here, but if you are interested Ill message you

Hey meathead.. I just had a quick question..

are such sites like "http://www.valuate.com/" accurate when it comes to evaluating your domain's value?.. I'd love to know please.

Also thanks for creating this thread.. it should be pinned and is going to be extremely helpful and interesting. :D

No, they aren't. Automated services can't accurately calculate the value of a domain or site.

Gaming niche... 30k per month revenue (and as high as 60k)... 10k+ UV's per day... 90% from google, yahoo and bing but also some traffic links, blog commenting, facebook, and media buys too but cheap level and press releases!

Been like this for the past 3 months... before that was 3 to 5k a month average!

If you were to sell this for me what % do you guys take?

Would need to look at a bit more information before giving you a valuation. I'll drop you a PM as I'm sure you'd rather keep the URL private.

Hi there! Just ended my auction on flippa without any bids. My site(s) made $418 from Adbrite, $672 from Amazon, 94.235 Unique visitors, 1.800.000 visits (all for October).

Also, the Alexa rank is 400K for 3 months and under 300K for 1 month, PR2, almost 70K pages in google. I asked for the site minimum $5K and $7.5K at buy now, but no one was interested (no bid, 29 users watching). How much should i ask for the re-list? Please advice since i have no idea what i did wrong... Did i asked too much money?

Thank you!

Thinking of selling my adult site because I'm having increasingly less time to maintain it but I don't know how much to charge.
Here's the stats for October:

122,524 Absolute Unique Visitors
932,599 Pageviews
5.52 Average Pageviews
00: 06:08 Time on Site
51.78% Bounce Rate
66.39% New Visits

Revenue for August: $49
Revenue for September: $49
Revenue for October: $146

Revenue increase because I added new networks.
Thanks.

A link to your listing copy would help a lot as more often than not (one of) the problem(s) is how the listing is set up.

As for the price - you only mentioned your October figures - did the site not make any money prior to October? If so then your price expectation is a bit too high indeed. Sites with no history (less than 3 months) very rarely sell for more than around 3-4x monthly profit.

Do you have any contacts in the industry? If not then you're likely to have quite a hard time trying to get your site sold as most mainstream marketplaces don't accept adult listings.

Furthermore, adult sites that are sold outside of the industry typically go for far less than "all audiences" sites, simply because less people are interested in acquiring them.

Depending on your traffic and revenue sources, as well as the age of the site (I hope it's not just 3 months old?) you're probably looking at getting around 4-8x average monthly profit.

P.S. http://www.blackhatworld.com/blackhat-seo/site-flipping/366563-what-my-site-worth-official-thread.html [meathead EDIT - Moved]

Thanks.
I had the domain from Jun2009 but only started the site late Jun2010.

Traffic sources for October:

google (organic) 72.57%
(direct) ((none)) 15.67%
yahoo (organic) 5.92%
bing (organic) 3.02%
search (organic) 0.32%

So I can realistic expect something like $600-$1200 from this site?
Where do you think it's best to put it on sale?
