I understand the "Newbie Guide" forum has some basic rules which are not in the terms and rules page. I see newbies break the rules often, and some of them don't even bother reading the whole forum.

I remember when I first joined this forum, I read the "terms and rules" page, thinking that was all. Oh, boy, was I wrong. I unknowingly broke specific rules some months back and received few warning points, and yes, I am not going to lie I only read half of newbie guides (when starting as a newbie) and thought that was it.

My suggestion?

Update the terms and rules page or make a thread with all the common rules so that next time, new members or anybody in-fact does not break rules that are not even in the terms and rules page.

For example, let's say there is one rule where you cannot create group chats and invite people, but where is that rule? I had to dig in really deep to find this specific rule. Or let's say, for example, the mentoring rule where you aren't allowed to mentor people; I couldn't find it anywhere. It is probably somewhere (which is why I had to do a comprehensive search to find the updated rules once I got those warning points). Still, once you are familiar with BHW, you slowly get the hang of this forum's most common rules and prevent yourself from repeating the same mistake that others make.

New users won't do that, and sometimes even users that have been in this forum for so long forget the most common rules. :)

In short:

Make the rules more organized and easily accessible by creating a thread that consists of all the rules or updating the terms and rules page (I doubt some people read this as it looks pretty long in context).

Benefits?
  • Reporting will become way more accurate since people would just have to visit one single thread that consists of all the rules, give it one quick read and then make their report.
  • Newbies won't have to visit every forum just to find some basic common rules, perhaps reducing the amount of rule-breakers?

Everyone breaks rules just look at the want to buy threads..and HAF.

There are sticky posts in every subforum that explains the rules.
The general rules are in the terms and rules. Of which some are outdated. Like

Rule 8 the last part

'You may also use the Rep button (little scale) to give another user positive or negative rep as you see fit, and you may also include a brief note to the other member.'
that doesn't exist anymore

Rule 10:

'If you receive 3 infractions on this forum, you be permanently banned from the Site.'

I believe those are 10 infraction points now which decay

I agree, some members have probably received more than 3 infractions. The rules need to be more organized and updated...
