Guest blogging still works in 2020. Bottom line is that guest posting does work. The facts speak for itself and show that it is still a relevant way to gain high-quality links.

Guest posting on relevant authority sites would be the better choice to create quality backlinks.

The guy is on another level using only Google's seed sites for tier 1 and has automated guest posts for boosting those links.
This is the reason they ???don???t work??? anymore. Because people have been bastardizing the term so much (not meant to be offensive to you or anyone else) that nowadays everything is a guest post.

Started guest blogging in January.

Started with branded anchors to my money pages but wasn't getting the results I wanted.

Seemingly lost authority in the May update.

Did a full content audit. Rewrote thin pages with Surferseo's content editor, added at least 4 pieces of multimedia to each page (85+ informational pages).

Built links only to resource pages with random anchors both15% link insertions 85% guest posts on relevant websites.

I also got the articles syndicated and written myself, edited using Surferseo's content editor. Every article has 3 links. 1 link to my resource page, 1 link to an authority site and 1 link to a Google property/social media site or authority site.

The results:

a 200% increase in traffic.

Went from 5-8 for all money terms to 1-3.

Guest post links work. But did you notice what i said? I said links with an 's'. You need to build many links. The problem with many folks is that they build 2 to 5 posts (and usually the budget ones) and expect a huge ROI.

As someone who does regular linkbuilding, it doesn't work that way. In my experience, if you want to realize the potential benefits of guest post linkbuilding (especially for a relatively newish site), then build more than 10 quality ones for a start, every goddamn month for about 6 months.

We started working on a website in personal loan niche in Feb this year. At that time, this website was having a zero DA/DR and contains only 4 pages. I arranged 20 guest posts on the site from websites having DA metrics ranging from 93 to 50. The owner was also arranging some guest posts on high authority websites that allows free posting on subpages (teachable, nairaland etc). Now in August 2020, the site in question has a DA-29 & DR-27. It is ranking for 10 keywords as per Moz and 16 as per Ahrefs.

However, the website still has only 4 pages (including one home page and one Contact page). The owner has done absolutely nothing to grow the inbound traffic of the site. I see it as an opportunity lost.

Guest post, in the instant case, were a means for us to improve the overall standing of the site and I feel we did succeed in that. However, had the owner been more proactive in writing a blog on the website, he must have been receiving lots of inbound traffic. So, in my opinion, guest posts should be the part of a broader strategy to reach our target audience. If you just rely on them, your progress will be slow.

Google implies that organic acquired links works best that means links from different sites and guest blog does this the very same thing so yes it still works, the new term would be organic outreach but it is the same.

Generally you search for some sites who accepts guest blogs
try this on google: "keyword" + "guest blog"
this will list some websites who accepts guest post in your niche, generally follow the given guidelines, they could be paid and they could be free.

Generally the free ones are spammed but if you owner is hard on you and does not have much guest blogs then it could be good.
Some paid are also spam but they are only spammed by those who pays.

You can also find what your competition is doing, backlink analysis will reveal if you have guest blog from somewhere.

Some websites don't accept guest post but you can always contact them if they are willing to publish your article.

And i guess many have already gave some good info, use that and you are good.

Guest posts do seem to still help, but you usually need quite a few of them, so they are either expensive or time-consuming to obtain. Whether you'll get a ROI or not, it could probably go either way, depending on your experience.

Guest posting still works if you do it right. It is no longer a good technique to use if you are looking for a quick and easy fix. It is not a good way to build a lot of links fast. If you on the other hand wants to build high quality links to your website and is willing to do what is takes to be successful then guest posting remains a great way to build links.
